Masala Makhana

Makhana, also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds is a healthy snack. Using ghee to roast makhana gives it so much flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups makhana fox nuts
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/4 tsp hing asafetida

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan on low-medium heat. Add the makhana and roast for 8-9 minutes until crispy. Transfer to a bowl.
  • In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee and add all the spices and hing. Stir well.
  • Add the roasted makhana back in and toss until evenly coated. Turn off the heat.

Notes

Makhana can be found at Patel Brothers or any Indian supermarket. I used Two Brothers Organic Farms Cultured Ghee.
