Guava Curry

I love guava and this is a great Jain friendly option to have with rice or roti.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups guava
  • 1 tbsp oil canola
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp asafetida (hing)
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp jaggery

Instructions

  • Thoroughly wash and rinse guava in cold water.
  • Slice guavas into small pieces and set aside.
  • In a pan, heat oil on medium heat.
  • Add in mustard seeds, cumin and asafetida.
  • Then add in all the spices as mentioned. Stir well.
  • Add in guava and water. Let it cook for 5 - 8 minutes until guavas are tender.
  • Lower heat and add in lemon juice, salt and jaggery. Mix well.
  • Turn off heat.
  • Serve with rice or roti.

Notes

I used baby guavas found at Asian supermarkets.
