Chilli Paneer Pinwheels

This is a great appetizer for any holiday party. This recipe is Jain friendly and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 package paneer crumbled
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1/2 cup red, yellow, or orange bell peppers diced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sambal oelek ground chili paste
  • 1 serrano pepper diced
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil for brushing

Instructions

  • Thaw puff pastry sheet according to package.
  • If you have fresh paneer block, make sure to crumble it with your hands or in a mixer.
  • In a mixing bowl, add crumbled paneer, bell peppers, salt, sambal oelek, serrano pepper, ginger, soy sauce, and spices as mentioned. Mix well.
  • Once the puff pastry sheet is cold and thawed, roll it in a rectangular shape.
  • Add in the chili paneer mixture evenly on the sheet.
  • Gently roll puff pastry sheet in a log shape and seal ends.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut into one inch pieces.
  • Preheat the oven at 350°F.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Brush oil using a pastry brush on each pinwheel.
  • Bake in oven for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Enjoy warm.

Notes

I used Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets (found in the refrigerated aisle). Sambal Oelek is red chili paste (no onion, no garlic) can be found in Indian grocery store.
