Cereal Chevdo

This cereal chevdo brings an umami of flavors together. It is savory, sweet and spicy. It is a great snack to have while on a road trip with some tea or coffee. This recipe is Jain friendly.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cornflakes
  • 2 cups fruity pebbles
  • 1 tbsp dalia (chana dal)
  • 1/2 cup cashews roasted and salted
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 10 curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp asafetida

Instructions

  • Using a non-stick deep pan, heat oil.
  • Once oil is ready, add in asafetida, dalia, peanuts and curry leaves. Stir well.
  • Add in cashews, raisins, salt and spices. Stir well.
  • Add in your cereals. Continue stirring well.
  • Roast cereal chevdo on low heat.
  • After it is well coated and roasted, turn off heat.
  • Store in airtight container.

Notes

You can use any cereals you have on hand. I love the combination of Corn Flakes and Fruity Pebbles along with spices. This recipe is Jain friendly.
