Birds Nest - Gourmet Pasta

This vegetarian and Jain friendly pasta is so delicious. You can now make gourmet pasta at home. It is made with premium angel hair pasta, basil pesto and seasoned mozzarella. Buon Appetito!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup olive oil extra virgin
  • 2 cups fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 6 mozzarella balls snack size
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for the mozzarella) extra virgin
  • 1 tsp sea salt (for the mozzarella)
  • 1 tsp red crushed pepper (for the mozzarella)
  • 2 Angel Hair Nests pasta

Instructions

Seasoned Mozzarella

  • Take EVOO, red crushed pepper and sea salt. Mix well.
  • Add in the mozzarella balls to the seasoned oil.
  • Set aside.

Basil Pesto

  • Blend fresh basil, olive oil, walnuts, sea salt and black pepper in a food processor or blender.
  • Set aside.

Birds Nest Pasta

  • Boil 2 angel hair nests according to package.
  • Drain and set in a plate.
  • Take each pasta nest, drizzle basil pesto and top it with seasoned mozzarella.

Notes

I used DeCecco brand of Angel Hair Nest pasta.  I used BelGioioso Fresh Mozzarella Snacking Cheese. I used a Vitamix to make the basil pesto.
