Bajri Na Vada

This is my mom's recipe that she makes for Paryushan. It is great to have with tea or yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bajra flour
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 1 tsp achaar masala
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add the flour, all the spices, curd and oil.
  • Knead the dough. It should be semi-soft.
  • Take dough and divide into small balls. Set aside.
  • Using your palms, gently press the dough balls.
  • Heat oil in deep frying pan.
  • Once oil is hot, add in the vada to deep fry.
  • It should be golden brown on both sides. Transfer to a dish lined with paper towel, which helps absorb the access oil.
  • Once cool, store in airtight container.
