Apple Pie Filling
This apple pie filling is great to prepare ahead of time and use in pies when ready.

Ingredients

Honeycrisp apples

brown sugar

butter

lemon juice

corn starch
for slurry

tsp
water
for slurry
Instructions
Peel, core and dice apples into small chunks.
Toss apples with lemon juice.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
Create slurry by mixing cornstarch and water. This will help thicken. Set aside.
Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, water, cornstarch slurry and apples. Mix well.
Continue stirring, letting the apples cook, until apples are tender and mixture is thick.
Pour apple pie filling into a mason jar and let it cool.
You can freeze these until ready to use or store in refrigerator if using within 48 hours.
Notes
I bought organic Honeycrisp apples but organic Granny Smith apples can also work.
