Sweet Sev
This recipe is very special and nostalgic as it was something my baa would make for me when I would visit India. It's made with only 3 ingredients – whole wheat sev/vermicelli, ghee (clarified butter) and sugar. My mom always makes this during the Jain holy festival of Paryushan too.
Servings: 2 people
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat sev or vermicelli
- 2 tbsp ghee clarified butter
- 2 tbsp cane sugar or brown sugar
- 4 cups water for boiling
Instructions
- In a pot, boil water.
- Once water boils, add in whole wheat sev.
- Let it cook for 5 minutes.
- Turn off heat and drain water.
- To a serving bowl, add in cooked sev. Then, add ghee and sugar to it. Mix well.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
I bought whole wheat sev in India but you can also find it at local Indian supermarkets. Alternatively, you can use vermicelli.
