
Stewed Apples
This is an Ayurvedic inspired recipe using apples which are in season for the fall. You can also use pears too. I love the warming spices and great to have for breakfast.
Ingredients
- 1 honey crisp apple large
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp jaggery powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder
- 1 – 2 cardamom pods
- 2 – 3 cloves
- 2 – 3 saffron strands
Instructions
- Wash, slice and peel one large apple.
- In a saucepan, take water, jaggery powder, cinnamon powder, dry ginger powder, cardamom pod, cloves and saffron strands and let it boil.
- Add in sliced apples and simmer for 10 minutes until fork tender.
- Enjoy warm- liquid, spices and all.
