
Jain Italian Sauce
This sauce has no onion, no garlic. You can use this for pasta, pizza or as a dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 28 oz San Marzano tomatoes can
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves chopped
- 3 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
- 2 tbsp red crushed pepper
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Using a sauce pan, heat oil on medium heat.
- Add in red crushed pepper flakes and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add in San Marzano tomatoes.
- Using a wooden spoon, mash the tomatoes.
- Add in salt and seasonings. Mix well.
- On low heat, continue to let the sauce simmer for 20 minutes. Do not cover the pan.
- Turn off heat.
- Add in fresh basil leaves. Stir well.
- Transfer to mason jar and let cool.
- You can store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
I used Cento San Marzano Certified Peeled Tomatoes. I got it from Costco but available at most supermarkets. I used Spice Islands Italian seasoning which is Jain friendly.
