Guava Curry
I love guava and this is a great Jain friendly option to have with rice or roti.
Ingredients
- 2 cups guava
- 1 tbsp oil canola
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp asafetida (hing)
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp jaggery
Instructions
- Thoroughly wash and rinse guava in cold water.
- Slice guavas into small pieces and set aside.
- In a pan, heat oil on medium heat.
- Add in mustard seeds, cumin and asafetida.
- Then add in all the spices as mentioned. Stir well.
- Add in guava and water. Let it cook for 5 – 8 minutes until guavas are tender.
- Lower heat and add in lemon juice, salt and jaggery. Mix well.
- Turn off heat.
- Serve with rice or roti.
Notes
I used baby guavas found at Asian supermarkets.
