Fried Green Olives
These make for a quick and delicious appetizer for the holidays. These deep fried Sicilian green olives are stuffed with Amul cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Castelvetrano olives pitted
- 2 Amul cheese cubes
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp red crushed pepper
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 4 tbsp panko breadcrumbs
- 3 tbsp all purpose flour
- 3 tbsp water
- canola oil for frying
Instructions
- Removed pitted olives from the jar and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Stuff each pitted olive with Amul cheese. Continue until all olives are stuffed.
- In a bowl, mix together flour and water to create a batter for coating olives.
- On a plate, mix together panko breadcrumbs, sea salt, crushed red pepper and oregano to make a seasoned breadcrumbs for coating olives.
- Dip each stuffed olive in the batter and then into the seasoned breadcrumbs until it is all coated evenly on all sides. Continue doing this until all olives are coated.
- Using a deep frying pan, heat oil.
- Once oil is ready, add in the breaded olives few at a time. It will take a few minutes until it is golden brown.
- Place them on a tray lined with a paper towel to drain.
- Serve them warm.
