Jalapeño Poppers
These are one of my favorite appetizers to make. These are fried, filled with cream cheese mixture and coated with seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Serve with your favorite dip.
Servings: 12 Poppers
Ingredients
- 6 jalapeños
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 cup cheddar cheese chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour for paste
- 1/2 cup water for paste
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Using gloves, make sure to wash and slice jalapeños lengthwise. Keep stem on.
- Deseed jalapeños until all veins and seeds are removed.
- You will have 12 jalapeños that you will stuff. Set aside.
- For the stuffing, mix softened cream cheese with cheddar cheese.
- For the paste, mix all purpose flour and water. Set aside.
- For the breadcrumbs, mix panko, salt, black pepper and paprika together. Set aside.
- Fill each jalapeño with cream cheese mixture. Repeat until all jalapeños are stuffed.
- Take each jalapeño and drench in paste. Then coat in panko breadcrumbs. Repeat until all jalapeños are done.
- Heat oil in a on medium heat. Once oil is ready, deep fry each jalapeño.
- Place on tray with lined paper towel as it will absorb the extra oil.
- Enjoy immediately with your favorite dip or by itself.
Notes
This recipe is made by frying in oil. I do not recommend baking or air frying as results may vary. I used Cabot Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
